Patrick Ruddy, a long-time national sales manager for Trion Industries, has died.
Mr. Ruddy’s duties were in service of the largest and most important retail and point-of-purchase chains in the country, as well as front-line staff at major industry trade shows and gatherings. His travels took him to every corner of the continent and extended to all channels of retail merchandising.
Mr. Ruddy worked for Trion, of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, for more than 22 years, and was previously employed by Stanley Hand Tools.
The entire Trion organization and much of the retail fixtures industry will miss Mr. Ruddy’s unflagging energy, good cheer and attention to detail.
A resident of Dunmore, Pennsylvania, Mr. Ruddy devoted his life to his family and career. He is survived by a loving family including sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
Trion Industries Inc. is a retail and point-of-purchase fixture manufacturer and manufacturer of display and scanning hooks. Other product lines include shelf management systems, label holders systems and merchandising accessories. Trion Industries was started in 1965 as a partnership of three friends. One was familiar with the problems of inventory stocking and displays in the retail environment. He conceived the idea for a pegboard hook which didn’t have to be tilted up to put it in or remove it from the pegboard; the first straight-entry hook. This was the original Spacemaker 100/200 series hook. The design was patented by the partnership.
