Dumac Business Systems Inc., an East Syracuse, New York-based provider of point-of-sales (POS) systems to the grocery, quick service and convenience store industries, has appointed Joe Jurich as COO, adding to his existing duties as chief technology officer. Serving in this dual role, he will assume full management and overall operations of the company.
“This is an exciting time for Dumac,” said Howard McCarthy, CEO. “Joe’s vast experience and decades of key management roles in operations and technology will provide the leadership to set the course for achieving high growth, while maintaining our leading position in the industries we serve. Joe has been an integral part of Dumac and has taken responsibility for many aspects of our business already with excellent results.”
Jurich served as president and CEO of Retailer Owned Research Co. (RORC), which was acquired by Dumac in August 2015. During his career, Jurich has had exposure to multiple, industry standard POS systems and software, according to Dumac. He led the development of the RORC software that is now part of Dumac’s install base throughout North and South America.
“I am thrilled to continue with Dumac in this dual capacity,” Jurich said. “I look forward to working with our dedicated employees to continue to serve and support our customers, as well as build on the accomplishments and solid foundations Dumac has instilled over the past 67 years, while implementing new strategies to maintain our growth.”
In addition to his software and POS experience, Jurich has held several management and senior management positions in the areas of information technology, market research, production, warehousing and transportation. He has a strong background in supply chain management and understands the critical role POS systems play in the process of buying, distributing and selling products. Jurich is also well versed in project management and has taught courses in process improvement at Gonzaga University.
Jurich holds an undergraduate degree in operations management and a MBA from Loyola University of Chicago.
