Galbani Mozzarella Wins Gold Medal From Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association

Galbani Mozzarella awarded

For the fifth consecutive year, Galbani Marinated Fresh Mozzarella has received an honor at the U.S. Championship Cheese Contest. This year the contest was held in March at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Galbani, a brand of Lactalis American Group (LAG), received a gold medal for the marinated cheese.

“We’re thrilled to have been recognized for our marinated ciliegine. Our teams work diligently to produce the highest quality products for our customers. With a wide variety of uses, this delicious cheese is something everyone will enjoy,” said Mike Vendura, director of marketing for Galbani at LAG.

Judges from the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association tasted more than two dozen cheeses in the “Flavored Soft Cheese” category before naming Galbani Marinated Fresh Mozzarella, which is about the size of a cherry, best of class.

This cheese, with its combination of herbs, spices and high-quality ingredients, typically is used for salads and appetizers. It has been honored in various contests over the past five years.

First crafted in Italy by Egidio Galbani in 1882, Galbani has long been the No. 1 cheese brand in Italy. Today, the company’s mozzarella, ricotta, fresh mozzarella and snack cheese is made and sold in the U.S. Headquartered in Buffalo, New York, LAG is a subsidiary of Parmalat S.p.A., owned by France-based Groupe Lactalis, the world’s largest dairy producer. LAG produces a wide array of cheese products, including a variety of specialty cheese available to retail, foodservice and industrial customers.
