Giant Food Stores will celebrate the grand opening of its new State College, Pennsylvania, store located at 2121 Atherton Street on June 7 at 8 a.m. The new store replaces Giant’s current store located at 2222 E. College Avenue, which will close for business on June 6 at 6 p.m. The new 68,000-s.f. store will operate 6 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.
Wendy Evans, a 20-year grocery veteran, will be store manager of the newest Giant, and she will bring her team and community leaders together in a 7:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 7.
“Offering our customers a larger store means we are adding plenty of fresh ideas and new convenient amenities to their Giant shopping experience,” Evans said. “From an expanded offering of fresh, quality products to online shopping and in-store beer and wine, our newest store offers something for all of our State College customers.”
The new State College store will offer a produce department with more than 350 fresh produce items and a full salad bar. In addition, the new store will feature fresh departments including a full-service deli with a selection of grab-and-go meals; a full-service meat and seafood department offering a greater product selection, such as USDA Prime, Nature’s Promise meats, fresh fish and a variety of local offerings; a full-service bakery with artisan breads, cakes, donuts and other desserts; and a full-service floral department with fresh-cut flowers and arrangements.
The new State College store also will include a Beer & Wine Eatery stocked with a selection of more than 300 varieties of both local and national brand beer and wine. The Beer & Wine Eatery will offer craft beers within the Mix-a-Six case, where customers can mix and match. The eatery will seat 30 and will be open Monday-Saturday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
An in-store Starbucks featuring a full menu of both hot and cold handcrafted beverages and snacks will be open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
The new State College store also offers a full-service pharmacy, with pharmacists available seven days a week to fill prescriptions, offer advice and administer vaccines.
