After success with four introductory flavors, Serious Bean Co. has launched its newest twist on baked beans—Southern Mustard-Q BBQ beans.
“Craft sauces are hot right now, especially those representing particular regional profiles,” said Joe Auchter, research and development director at Serious Bean Co. “Mustard-based sauce traditional to South Carolina is a delightful contrast to the more traditional tomato-based sauces.
Our beans are the perfect flavor base for this tangy, complex and well-balanced sauce made with yellow mustard, vinegar and unique seasonings. These tasty beans complement pulled pork, chicken, ribs, beef or veggie burgers—whatever consumers are putting on their grills this summer.”
The beans pair well with German cuisine, and can also be added to cooked potatoes or pureed for a dip with pretzels or crackers. In taste tests, panelists liked the mild heat and zesty flavor.
Serious Bean Co. flavors are preservative-free, vegan and gluten-free, crafted with natural ingredients and canned in Owatonna, Minnesota, using BPA-free cans with easy-to-open pull top lids.
Southern Mustard-Q is available at approximately 500 Walmart stores across 16 states. Other Serious Bean Co. flavors are available at more than 4,000 retail stores across country, including Walmart, Publix, Hy-Vee, United Supermarkets, Meijer, WinCo Foods and H-E-B.
Co-founders Matt Brown and Trey Taylor of Good Eats Foods Co., based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, created the brand with the belief that the canned bean category lacked innovation. Serious Bean Co. is owned and operated by Lakeside Foods in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
