Nancy Johnston Joins Renaissance Food Group As VP, Produce Procurement

Rancho Cordova, California-based Renaissance Food Group (RFG) has named Nancy Johnston VP of produce procurement, leading the company’s procurement initiatives as well as all aspects of the corporate sourcing and regional procurement teams.

Johnston has spent 30 years in the produce industry. Her background includes sales management, purchasing, team building and mentoring, budgeting, relationship building, new product development, marketing and brand development. Prior to RFG, Johnston served as senior sales manager for Sysco Corp., where she launched and managed the new Sysco/FreshPoint brand revitalization. She also held various other roles within Sysco Corp., The Richard Kaiser Co. and TKO Farms Inc. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wichita State University.

In addition, Johnston participates in Produce Marketing Association (PMA) programs such as Center for Growing Talent Women’s Fresh Perspectives. She mentors students each year through PMA Fresh Connections: Retail and PMA Foodservice Expo, taking care to maintain relationships with students after their graduation. She also actively participates with Produce for Better Health Foundation and Southeast Produce Council.

Johnston’s role with RFG began June 3. She will assume Vest’s position when she retires effective June 30.
