The Texas International Produce Association (TIPA) has selected Scott Fletcher of Allen Lund Co. (ALC) as a new member of its board of directors.

“I’m excited and looking forward to working with Dante Galeazzi and the team in any way that will grow Texas as a  top choice for fresh produce both within Texas and internationally,” Fletcher said.

Galeazzi is president and CEO of TIPA.

Fletcher left the Navy 38 years ago and began his career in transportation as an over-the-road (OTR) driver. He hauled Texas meat and produce out of the fields of California, Florida and Texas, as well as Mexican produce out of the Valley and Nogales.

Fletcher joined ALC in 2008 as manager of the Dallas office and has been working on building the ALC presence in Texas for more than 11 years. He was instrumental in the partnership between ALC and Santos International in the formation of TransKool Solutions, which provides cooler services in McAllen. Fletcher is a champion for Texas/Mexico produce transportation.

TIPA was created in 1942 by a group of industry leaders who shared a vision to expand the Texas produce industry. These industry pioneers understood that by working together they would be able to reap greater benefits, thus TIPA was formed to represent the business, economic and political interests of Texas-grown fruits and vegetables. In 2012, in response to the rapidly evolving needs of its members, TIPA’s mission was further expanded to address the issues and opportunities surrounding the importation and marketing of foreign-grown produce that was being shipped through Texas ports.

Specializing as a national third-party transportation broker with nationwide offices and over 500 employees, ALC works with shippers and carriers across the nation to arrange dry, refrigerated (specializing in produce), and flatbed freight; additionally, it has a logistics and software division, ALC Logistics, and an International Division licensed by the FMC.

Established in 1976, ALC was recognized by Logistics Tech Outlook for its software division, ALC Logistics, as a 2018 Top 10 Freight Management Solution Providers, 2018 Food Logistics’ Top 3PL & Cold Storage Providers list, 2017 Supply & Demand Chain Executive Top 100, 2017 Food Logistics 100+ Top Software and Tech Provider, a 2016 Top IT Provider by Inbound Logistics, 2015 Coca-Cola Challenger Carrier of the Year, 2015 Top Private Company in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal, 2015 Top 100+ Software and Technology Providers, 2015 Top 100 Logistics IT Provider by Inbound Logistics, a 2014 Great Supply Chain Partner, and was placed in Transport Topics’ “2014 Top 25 Freight Brokerage Firms.” The company manages more than 365,000 loads annually and received the 2013 “Best in Cargo Security Award.”
