Buche Foods, CashSmart, Buche Hardware, Buche Auto Parts and Gus Stop convenience stores will again sell cases of water in October and donate all the profits to help local cancer fighters. The money helps people in the towns and surrounding communities where Buche stores operate with expenses and, most importantly, with their fight, said RF Buche, owner of GF Buche Co.
In addition, employees of each of the Buche locations have been asked to pre-sell cases of water to customers throughout September. Funds from those sales also will be used to help patients with their fight against any type of cancer.
To help encourage water sales, store team members challenge Buche to do something special if they meet their goals. Buche has done everything from sitting in a dunk tank in each location (sometimes during near-freezing temperatures) and riding his bike between the Mission and Wagner, South Dakota, store locations (144 miles) to dressing up as a woman, a turkey and last year as a pink flamingo.
“Helping people with their fight is the right thing to do, and if we can help encourage our team to get involved, I will do what it takes,” Buche said.
Last year more than $10,000 was donated to the fund. Since the inception of the annual event, almost $48,000 has been raised. That money has helped more than 97 cancer patients in and around the communities where a Buche retail outlet is located.
