Update: Two Gristedes Baggers To Compete For NY State Title

Employees from Gristedes store locations competed against each other for the title of Best Bagger at their individual stores over the summer. On Friday, Aug. 30, the winners from each Gristedes met to compete again at the store at 307 West 26th Street in New York City.

Coming in first was Chevella Moore; in second place was Ernesto Cruz. Both will competing in the New York state finals for the opportunity to compete in the national competition. That contest takes place at the annual National Grocers Association (NGA) Show, coming up in San Diego, Feb. 24-26, 2020.

The New York finals will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Stop & Shop at 2540 South Road in Poughkeepsie. Registration starts at 9 a.m.; the event kicks off at 10.

Gristedes Supermarkets has been feeding New Yorkers for more than 100 years. Today the company operates 30-plus stores in Manhattan, Westchester and Brooklyn, including a store on Roosevelt Island.
