Humming Hemp Launches Hummingbar Protein Bar Lineup

Humming Hemp

Humming Hemp, a Richland, Washington-based company launched its new, hemp-based protein bar, the hummmingbar. The new hummmingbar product line features five clean label bars.

“Hemp has been misrepresented and ignored for too long,” says founder and CEO Hilary Kelsay. “In truth, hemp and, specifically, hemp seeds, are a sustainable and healthy protein food source. In an era of higher food demand and scarcer supply, hemp holds the promise of a better, healthier world. Hemp hearts are a nutrition powerhouse that are easy to grow, do not contain THC or CBD and can form the foundation of delicious and healthy food.”

Humming Hemp was formed in 2017 by Kelsay and a team of Washington-based entrepreneurs. The company started releasing its hemp-based food products the same year, as cultivation of the plant in small pilot programs had become legal under the 2014 Farm Bill. The following year saw sales increase even more with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, now legalizing hemp nationwide.

The Humming Hemp product line includes Raw Hemp Hearts (flavored and plain), Cold-Pressed Extra Virgin Hemp Seed Oil and Raw Hemp Protein Powder. The hummingbars now join the Humming Hemp line as its newest and product.

Humming HempThe company’s hummingbars are made from soft, chewy, nutrient-dense American-grown hemp hearts sweetened with raw USA honey.

Each bar has 11-12g of raw, easily digested, complete plant-based protein that contains all 20 amino acids. They also contain Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids, and are rich in gamma linolenic acid (GLA), a rare Omega-6 that is highly anti-inflammatory and great for skin, hair and balancing hormones. The hearts additionally provide a micronutrient profile, including B vitamins, copper, zinc, iron, magnesium and manganese.

“We’re living in the age of conscious consumerism, and people want so much more from their nutrition choices when it comes to convenience food,” said Humming Hemp COO Max Schneider. “We’re excited to be able to deliver the whole package and offer a product that brings together taste, complete and balanced plant-based nutrition, and whole-food-sourced ingredients, from a sustainable, earth-friendly and regenerative plant. The U.S. is finally waking up to the fact that hemp is a superfood, and that its time is now.”

The hemp plant that requires minimal water, can aerate and return nutrients to the soil and is naturally resistant to disease and insects, therefore needing little to no pesticides.

The hummingbars are already in Raley’s stores throughout Northern California and will launch in 1,700 Kroger stores nationwide starting in October. They are also available on the Humming Hemp website, along with the company’s other products, many of which are also available throughout the country via various retailers.
