Chicago, Illinois-based Greenleaf Foods SPC, with its brand Lightlife—the No. 1-selling refrigerated plant-based meat alternative brand in U.S. retail (Based on unit sales L52 WE 09/08/19, Spins Mulo & Natural Channel, excluding Whole Foods Market)—is bringing Lightlife’s new plant-based meat line to more than 12,000 retail stores. The new products have begun hitting shelves at Kroger, Publix and Target nationwide.

A recent study by the Plant Based Foods Association and The Good Food Institute [Plant-Based Food Retail Sales are Growing 5x Total Food Sales (2019)] showed U.S. retail sales of plant-based foods totaled $4.5 billion during the past year. These sales are driving increased demand for plant-based options in grocery stores across the country.

Since launching its new plant-based meat line earlier this year, Lightlife’s brand sales have doubled vs. last year at retailers who started carrying the Fresh Line products earlier this summer (Based on dollar sales L4 WE 09/08/19, Spins Mulo & Natural Channel, excluding Whole Foods Market).
