ShopRite will host a ceremonial tree planting at the ShopRite of 1st State Plaza on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. The event, at the ShopRite at 1600 West Newport Pike in Wilmington, Delaware, will celebrate efforts by ShopRite, Kimberly-Clark and One Tree Planted to plant 25,000 trees over the next year.

“ShopRite is proud of our role in helping protect the environment through its strong corporate social responsibility program,” said Melissa Kenny, director of sales and marketing for the Kenny Family ShopRites of Delaware. “By taking part in this tree planting ceremony we celebrate efforts to reduce energy use, promote water conservation and show the value of minimizing waste through recycling, and composting. This event is consistent with the work of the Kenny Family Foundation, which has supported more than 1,300 charitable groups and donated over $2.3 million to fund organizations that create a sustainable future, improve quality of life and invest in the well-being of our community.”

In partnership with Kimberly-Clark and One Tree Planted, ShopRite will plant close to 25,000 trees in communities throughout the Northeast during the spring planting season.

At Kimberly-Clark we care about our people, our communities and the future of our planet. Protecting our forests is just one of the ways we care for the planet and lead the world in essentials for a better life,” said Peggy Murphy, sustainability leader for Kimberly-Clark North America. “We are very proud to partner with ShopRite and One Tree Planted on this project because it is helping to create a sustainable future for the communities where we work and live.”

Connecting the dots behind the scenes is Brand Activation Maximizer (BAM), which facilitated the partnership among ShopRite, Kimberly-Clark and the nonprofit organization One Tree Planted. The organizations will join together in the spring to plant close to 25,000 trees to mark Earth Day.

“This is another way for ShopRite to make an impact in the communities where ShopRite stores operate, and at the same time help the planet,” said Mark Kelso, BAM VP client development. “Planting trees is not only a way to strengthen the environment, it’s also a way to strengthen communities. All of us at BAM are honored to play a small part in this major sustainability initiative with ShopRite and Kimberly-Clark.”
