Parker’s, an award-winning convenience, foodservice, fuel and technology company headquartered in Savannah, Georgia, was recently honored by Food and Wine as one of America’s Best Convenience Stores. It ranked Parker’s No. 5 on the list, commenting on its southern-inspired menu, all of which is prepared fresh on site.
“From a downtown Savannah flagship featuring a full array of serious, available-24/7 southern home cooking (wow, those biscuits) to more than 50 stores dotting the surrounding area, including the South Carolina Lowcountry, where you can always get your hands on an urn-sized cup of sweet tea, and some of the best chicken tenders around—fresh, never frozen, Parker’s is the extremely southern convenience store of your dreams,” the article said.
Food and Wine featured Parker’s along with convenience store companies like Buc-ee’s, Wawa, Sheetz and Cumberland Farms. There are currently more than 168,000 convenience stores in the United States. Parker’s has 64 stores in Georgia and South Carolina and expansion plans for the future.
“We are incredibly honored to be recognized by Food and Wine for our commitment to high-quality foodservice,” said Parker’s founder and CEO Greg Parker. “We handcraft our food from the freshest ingredients and take pride in cooking for the communities where we live and work. This recognition affirms the fact that our hard work is paying off, as we continue to meet the changing needs of today’s convenience store customers.”
Parker’s Kitchen, the food-centric brand under the Parker’s umbrella, serves hand-breaded southern fried chicken tenders, as well as pork chops, bone-in chicken, made-from-scratch mac ‘n’ cheese, daily specials and a breakfast bar with fresh-made egg casserole, bacon, sausage, cheese grits and biscuits.
Founded in 1976, the company has been recognized for its award-winning Fueling the Community charitable initiative, mobile app and Parker’s Rewards program, which has saved customers more than $10 million since its inception.
With retail stores throughout coastal Georgia and South Carolina and a major expansion into the Charleston, South Carolina, market currently underway, Parker’s is on track to become a billion-dollar company. It has enjoyed 20 to 24 percent annual growth for the past 19 years and was recently named to the Inc. 5000 list of the Fastest Growing Companies in America for the fifth time. The company employs more than 1,000 people throughout the region and completes more than 125,000 transactions daily.
