Key Food Stores Co-Operative Inc., a chain of primarily independently owned and corporate grocery stores, recently held the grand opening of its newest Golden Farms location at 6710 Haverford Avenue, Philadelphia.
District Representative Numa St. Louis and Key Food executives including CEO Dean Janeway, COO George Knobloch, CFO Sharon Konzelman, CIO Tammy Teague and VP of Business Development John Durante were in attendance.
“As part of our continued efforts to grow our family of supermarkets, we’re proud of the time and effort that went into opening this Golden Farms,” says Durante. “We’re confident that shoppers will love the variety of products and level of service this store has to offer.”
At 54,000 s.f., this new Golden Farms will have a hot food bar, deli, bakery and large produce department. The store will offer multiple frozen goods and a large variety of ethnic, organic and international foods for the neighborhood with a large parking lot with over 300 spots.
“Golden Farms has an answer for all appetites,” said store owner J.D. Azcona. “We take quality and value serious, and we’re confident our customers will love everything our store has to offer.”
Key Food Stores Co-Operative Inc. was founded in Brooklyn in 1937 and includes 295 primarily member-owned and corporate grocery stores with $2.7 billion in annual sales. In addition to Key Food, these stores operate under various other banners including: Food Universe, The Food Emporium, SuperFresh, Food Dynasty and Gala Foods Supermarkets in all five boroughs, Long Island, upstate New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Florida.
Their flyer advertised Senior Citizen Wednesday. I went there today, Wednesday, spent $81 and when I asked the cashier about the Senior Citizen Wednesday, she shrugged and said she didn’t know anything about it. Needless to say, I didn’t get any discount. Furthermore, you can’t find the Golden Farms circular online for the new Philadelphia store.
