Muffin Mam Appoints Lee Chairman Of Board Of Directors

Simpsonville, South Carolina-based Muffin Mam has appointed Carl E. Lee Jr. as chairman of the board for the company. Lee joins the Muffin Mam Board of Directors with more than 35 years of leadership and management experience with food companies and overseeing the merger and acquisition of companies in the consumer products industry.

In his past, he has held influential, progressively advancing executive roles with Frito-Lay, Nabisco/Kraft and Snyder’s-Lance. Additionally, he has served as a board director of Welch’s Foods, as well as on the boards of the Snack Food Association, National Confectionary Association and the Grocery Manufacturers Association. 

Lee presently serves as president and CEO of Benestar Brands, a holding company formed to build a midsize snack food company with a portfolio of differentiated brands. He is an active member of the Krispy Kreme Board of Directors, having served for the past six years. As chairman of Muffin Mam, he will work closely with the management team to execute its strategic plan, ensuring the company delivers its aggressive growth plans.

Lee joins Muffin Mam’s current board of directors which includes  Armstrong; Daryl Brewster, former president of Nabisco and CEO of Krispy Kreme; Tammy DeBoer, former chief merchandising officer of Family Dollar; Bill Hendrix, former chairman of the Clemson University Board of Trustees, former chairman and CEO of Wilmington Arms Co. and current trust emeritus of Clemson University; Greg Marshall, 17-year employee and EVP of sales and marketing for Muffin Mam; and Pat Duncan and Marshall Cole of Azalea Capital.

Muffin Mam is a wholesale bakery specializing in crème cakes, loaf and pound cakes, angel food cakes, gourmet muffins, and, now, fully decorated, base iced and undecorated sheet cakes.
