Oscar Mayer Invites Public To Participate In Front Yard Cookout May 2

In times where everyone is practicing social distancing, neighbors are looking for ways to safely reconnect with each other and enjoy some summertime activities that bring everyone together, like cookouts and barbecues.

There’s a way to do both. On Saturday, May 2, Oscar Mayer is inviting everyone to bring the backyard cookout to the front yard in its first-ever Front Yard Cookout.Oscar Mayer logo, cookout

As part of this, Oscar Mayer is donating one million meals to Feeding America. And by participating in the Front Yard Cookout, Oscar Mayer will donate even more.

To participate, snap a photo of your socially distant cookout and share on Twitter. Each social share using the hashtag #FrontYardCookout donates one additional meal to Feeding America on top of Oscar Mayer’s one million meal commitment. Hashtag submissions are open now through May 31.

“Oscar Mayer has always been guided by a sense of optimism and by bringing smiles to people at all times—especially in hard times,” said Jess Vultaggio, head of marketing for Madison, Wisconsin-based Oscar Mayer. “We’re proud to partner with Feeding America to give back to the community and excited to give people the chance to help us in this effort.”

The brand has put together a few grilling guidelines to consider during your cookout:

  • Practice social distancing by always standing at least 12 hot dogs apart, the equivalent of 6 feet per CDC guidelines;
  • Wash your hands with soap; and
  • Thank the grill master with a thumbs-up instead of a high five.

To help spread the word, Oscar Mayercreated a 30-second ad that began airing last week as part of a national TV buy. You can also learn more about the Front Yard Cookout by visiting OscarMayer.com or on social media via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

Feeding America is the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States. Through a network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs, it provides meals to more than 40 million people each year. Feeding America also supports programs that prevent food waste and improve food security among the people it serves; educates the public about the problem of hunger; and advocates for legislation that protects people from going hungry.
