Price Chopper has opened a new store in Gardner, Kansas, the 52nd location for the Overland Park, Kansas-based grocery chain. The 63,000-s.f. store at 660 E. Main St. will employ about 180 people.
A ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration were held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3.
The new store features a range of amenities, including a Starbucks, curbside hot meal pickup, fast-casual dining, pharmacy drive thru, online ordering for delivery or pickup and a full-service floral department.
“This new store has been carefully designed to meet the needs of the growing Gardner community,” said Casie Broker, chief marketing officer. “We’re thrilled to deepen our commitment to the area and proud to be part of the city of Gardner’s growth.”
The store will mark its grand opening 22 years after joining the community.
“The Gardner Price Chopper location was the first store that my family entrusted to me. After college, this was the first store I managed. It holds a very special place in my heart.” said John Cosentino, VP of Cosentino’s Food Stores.
The store also will include increased selection throughout all departments, expanded hot foods, an extensive seafood selection, high-quality Certified Angus Choice Beef and 30 doors of cold beer.
“This store will make feeding your family easier. Whether you are looking for fast casual dining or fresh ingredients to prepare your favorite dish you can find it in this new store along with exceptional customer service,” Cosentino said. “While this store will have a number of new features, it will also have the same commitment to great customer service and value our stores are known for.”
Store hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Price Chopper’s 52 Kansas City stores are locally owned by the Ball, Cosentino, McKeever and Queen families, all of whom live in Kansas City and oversee store operations on a daily basis.
