Island Pacific App Improves Customers’ Experience During Pandemic

Walnut, California-based Island Pacific Supermarket, with locations in California and Nevada, is the first Filipino supermarket chain to offer online shopping with same-day grocery delivery in the United States through its Island Pacific app. The delivery will be offered through Postmates.

“Because of COVID-19 and the drive to keep our communities safe at home, the Island Pacific team adaptively offered the e-commerce platform less than a month after the quarantine orders went into effect because of the unyielding efforts of our founder Nino ‘Jeff’ Lim,” said Giselle Tongi-Walters, director of communications and community partnerships for Island Pacific. “Despite many challenges in the first few weeks of the pandemic, the Island Pacific company also offered a rice reservation system so that people could reserve online and pick up in store to mitigate long lines and implement social distancing.”

On June 12, in time for Philippine Independence Day, the company also released an updated version of the Island Pacific app to improve customers’ online shopping experience.

Now, with the updated Island Pacific app, customers will be notified on their mobile phone when their orders are ready. Customers can then notify the store when they are on the way for their curbside pick-up.

Each location has designated spaces for curbside pickup so customers can wait in their car while their personal shopper load their groceries in their car.
