Southeastern Grocers, parent company and home of BI-LO, Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, has launched a company-wide celebration of Hispanic heritage in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. The series of events focuses on honoring the history and contributions of American Hispanic citizens and their ancestors from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
Now through Oct. 15, SEG is observing Hispanic Heritage Month with celebrations planned by SEG’s Pa’lante group, the grocer’s new Hispanic associate resource group. SEG associates will have the opportunity to partake in a virtual Latina Leaders event that will highlight Hispanic businesses and leaders throughout the community.
“At Southeastern Grocers, we are committed to engaging, cultivating and enriching the lives of individuals in our community through the celebration of diverse cultures,” said Eddie Garcia, EVP of store growth for SEG. “We are thrilled to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with our customers and our team of dedicated associates as we honor the achievements, cultures and influences of Hispanic and Latino Americans.”
Jacksonville, Florida-based SEG and its Hispanic banner, Fresco y Más, have a long history of supporting Hispanic Heritage. In June 2016, Fresco y Más debuted in Hialeah, Florida, to provide customers with a grocery store that offers an authentic Hispanic shopping experience while also offering the products and services the community desires. Since 2016, Fresco y Más has expanded to 26 locations throughout South and Central Florida.
