Organic Cheesemaker Rogue Creamery Debuts New Wedges

Southern Oregon artisan cheesemaker Rogue Creamery, famous for its award-winning organic blue cheese, is debuting a new line of pre-packaged blue cheese wedges. Six varieties of Rogue’s certified organic, cave-aged blue cheeses are now available in a 4.2-oz. wedge format: Oregon Blue, Smokey Blue, Crater Lake Blue, Oregonzola, Caveman Blue and Bluehorn Blue.

“We are always looking for ways to offer a cheese that’s on the cutting edge of sustainability,” said David Gremmels, president of Rogue Creamery. “We aim to raise the bar and make our products more available to a broader range of consumers – all while reducing our plastic consumption and carbon footprint.”

In addition to garnering interest from a number of retailers, these new wedges will be showcased at Northwest region Safeway and Albertsons supermarkets as part of their “Best of the Northwest” promotion this spring.

National distributor and fellow B Corporation KeHe is set up to offer all six wedge varieties for sale, as well as West Coast distributor Tony’s Fine Foods. Rogue Creamery is working with other regional and national distributors to offer these new wedges to buyers across the country in the coming weeks.

Rogue is also using the rollout of its new wedge format as an opportunity to rethink its case packaging and make its products more accessible to smaller independent retailers. Single-variety cases containing six wedges each are now available; Rogue Creamery is investigating the potential of cost-savings to retailers purchasing larger case/pack quantities, to be introduced this summer.

Rogue Creamery is a USDA certified organic cheese maker located in Central Point, Oregon. Over the past 88 years, Rogue Creamery has drawn from the beauty and flavors of Southern Oregon’s Rogue River Valley to create organic, handcrafted cheeses that have won international acclaim. The company became Oregon’s first public benefit corporation, “B Corp,” joining a global movement of companies that are committed to making the world a better place. Rogue Creamery is committed to making a difference socially, economically and environmentally.
