BGC Racing Moves Heroes Run To Virtual; Donates $80K To Charities

Due to increased concerns about the COVID-19 variants, BGC Racing has changed its 2021 Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods Heroes Run to be a virtual event.

“BGC Racing’s top priority is the health and safety of our Heroes Run participants, volunteers and spectators,” said Brad Brookshire, chairman and CEO for Tyler, Texas-based Brookshire Grocery Co. “This was not a decision taken lightly but one that we feel is necessary due to the recent increase in number of positive cases we are seeing in our area. BGC Racing is committed to doing our part to lessen the impact and spread of COVID-19; therefore, this is the right decision for the difficult situation facing all of us.” BGC Racing Moves Heroes Run To Virtual; Donates $80K To Charities

BGC Racing plans to present donations totaling $80,000 to non-profit organizations with proceeds from the previous Heroes Run race next month. Proceeds from the Heroes Run support local military heroes and first responders in the Shreveport-Bossier City area. Organizations benefitting from the proceeds include the Shreveport and Bossier City Police and Fire Departments, Barksdale Air Force Base, Wounded Warrior Project and Team Red, White and Blue.

BGC Racing is offering registered runners several options for their 2021 race entry. Each registered participant will receive an email from BGC Racing with an option to participate virtually this year or defer their entry fee to the 2022 Heroes Run race set for Oct. 22, 2022.

For those who choose to participate this year, runners will receive their race swag and join an online community in sharing their distance run Oct. 22-29. To help runners still have an epic experience, BGC Racing is creating an athlete swag package and will make sure it’s in runners’ hands (or mailboxes) race week.
