Ultrafast Grocery Service Buyk Doubles Presence In NY To 20 Dark Stores

chicago

Buyk, a real-time retail service that promises grocery delivery within 15 minutes, has expanded into Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, following a successful launch in Manhattan in September. The move brings the company’s total number of dark stores to 20, making Buyk one of the largest and fastest-growing ultrafast grocery delivery services operating in New York City.

Buyk uses its proprietary technological stack, combined with a network of strategically located dark stores, to deliver groceries and other essentials to customers’ doorsteps within 15 minutes. The service provides an assortment of supermarket quality, with fresh products from both leading international brands and New Yorkers’ local favorites available through the Buyk app.

Such a rapid expansion is testament to a highly efficient post-launch period of operations. Manhattan residents have rushed to embrace the service, with trends emerging that indicate high order frequency and customer retention (some cohorts ordering more than three times per month, others ordering twice daily).

Buyk has previously disclosed ambitious scaling plans for 2021 and beyond, first targeting all five boroughs of New York City, and then other major metropolitan areas across the US. This expansion represents a major first step to realizing these plans.

“We all know how New Yorkers value their time – it is the single most precious commodity in this fast-paced metropolis. So, it is essential that we expand our service to people across the city as quickly as possible, letting all New Yorkers experience the convenience of our 15-minute delivery,” said Slava Bocharov, co-founder at Buyk.

“In just two months, Buyk has seen growth that has taken other players in the sector around a year to achieve. However, this is just the beginning of our journey toward making Buyk the go-to name in grocery. We see huge potential for future growth in the ultrafast sector, as online channels continue to represent just a small share of the total grocery market, and Buyk intends to lead the way in this transition from offline to online. I’m very proud of our record-breaking achievements to date and expect more to follow soon, as we continue to entice consumers to this new, revolutionary style of shopping,” Bocharov said.

The company is led by the founding team of Rodion Shishkov and Bocharov, seasoned professionals in the industry who co-founded and ran Samokat, one of Europe’s ultrafast grocery delivery services. The company raised $46 million from CM Ventures, Fort Ross, Citius and other investors in a recent funding round ahead of its launch.
