The Wagner, South Dakota-based GF Buche Co. and its Buche Cares team exceeded its recent fundraising goal for local nonprofit organizations.
“I’m humbled and very fortunate to work with such a good group of people that truly goes above and beyond to help our friends and neighbors,” stated R.F. Buche, president of GF Buche Co.
The goal was to exceed $20,000, but this year was the best ever – totaling $39,083.91. Seventeen different pantries along with Fighting Local Cancer and the Underdog Scholarships were the nonprofit organizations that will be receiving the funds.
Twenty different GF Buche Co. locations participated in the event, where customers and team members were asked to donate to their local or favorite nonprofit. Buche matched dollar for dollar up to $500 on each nonprofit.
Since the fundraiser began, dozens of cancer patients have been helped, hundreds of people have been fed and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been given away in scholarships to students who may not have had a chance to go to college. One hundred percent of funds raised through Team Buche Cares is given back to those in need.
“We have no administrative fees. If we can help someone in the local community with some of the financial pressure, whether it be cancer related, scholarships or feeding the hungry, then it makes it all worthwhile,” Buche said.
