NGA continues to enhance the resources it makes available to independent grocery operators as examples of the many benefits to association membership.
To be sure, NGA appreciates its members who respond to our calls to action by stepping up on behalf of the association to lend a human face, voice and story to the commitment of independent community grocers and their impact on local economies across the country.
At this writing, NGA is celebrating a successful Fly-In for Fair Competition, its first in-person outreach to policymakers in Washington, D.C., since before the pandemic. Dozens of independent retailers and wholesalers convened in the nation’s capital for two days of discussion and meetings with legislators to argue in favor of antitrust reform and other policies designed to achieve a common goal of enhancing consumer access to groceries.
Building on that success, the NGA team is busy reinventing its executive conference experience for C-suite members.
Redubbed the Executive Conference and Public Policy Summit, this event will include high-level speakers delivering in-depth industry forecasts and outlooks for emerging economic and business trends, along with opportunities to strengthen relationships with trading partners throughout the supply chain.
Topics to be explored will include the state of the independent grocery sector, changing consumer dynamics, supply chain challenges and the impact of politics and federal policy. This summit pairs high-impact education and networking with an opportunity to meet with federal representatives who craft policies affecting business.
Scheduled for Oct. 24-26, NGA envisions this as an annual event in the fall that will bring together the top industry leaders in the independent supermarket industry for forward-looking industry conversations and collaboration.
Also driving excitement for 2022 is NGA’s 40th anniversary, which we’ll be recognizing all year long but officially celebrating at the October gathering, where we’ll unveil a commemorative magazine that documents every decade of the association and its evolving role in the industry.
The conference is designed for CEOs and senior level leaders from across the independent grocery industry, including CEOs and presidents, VPs, directors and senior executives with responsibility for operations, sales and merchandising, finance, marketing, human resources, legal, technology and logistics.
One caveat: Like with the fly-in, registration is limited to NGA member companies.
