Sunbury, Pennsylvania-based Weis Markets has announced the promotion of Maria Rizzo to VP of advertising and marketing. Prior to her promotion, she worked as director of marketing.
Rizzo will oversee management of the company’s advertising, marketing and public/community relations activities. Her key responsibilities include customer relationship management, marketing and advertising (print, digital and electronic). She replaces Ron Bonacci, who is retiring at the end of the year.
Rizzo, who joined the company in 2006, has worked as category manager, senior manager of private brands and specialty foods before becoming director of marketing in 2015. Prior to Weis, she worked as an analyst at Daymon Worldwide and as a marketing manager at The Franlin Mint.

The retailer has recently launched its holiday rewards program. Through the campaign, customers can qualify for free food and discounts on a variety of its turkeys, hams, salmon and other holiday items through Thanksgiving Day.
Customers can earn rewards points on purchases with their Preferred Shoppers Club cards and redeem their holiday rewards points through Nov. 24. They will earn one rewards point for every dollar spent on qualifying purchases and 100 points for qualifying prescriptions.
