Fareway Stores has announced plans to construct a 24,000-square-foot store at the corner of Highway 28 and Chatham Drive in Norwalk, Iowa.
Construction is planned to begin in 2023, with a tentative opening in early 2024. The current Norwalk Fareway store located at 1711 Sunset Drive will close upon the new store opening.
“We look forward to continuing to serve area residents with a new store look and feel. The updated shopping experience, with fresh and unique aesthetics, will allow us to grow with the great community of Norwalk,” said Reynolds W. Cramer, CEO. “We want to thank city officials for their commitment to Fareway and for their hard work in making this project possible.”
The location will feature a new look and feel, with more natural lighting and updated interior. Additionally, the new store will continue to offer FastLanes, a self-service checkout option, online shopping and curbside pick-up.
“Fareway is one of the very best community-based businesses in Iowa, and they’ve been a valuable asset to Norwalk. It’s been a pleasure working with the leadership at Fareway in the development of this modern and exciting, new facility,” said Hollie Zajicek, Norwalk economic development director.
“This comes at the perfect time with the location being on the prime corner entrance to the new Norwalk Central development underway in the heart of the city. Residents and visitors will have many great choices when coming to Norwalk for tournaments, recreation, entertainment, shopping and dining. The City of Norwalk welcomes the new Fareway development and looks forward to continuing our positive relationship as we grow together.”
Fareway will close on the property in the next few days, with more details forthcoming in the near future.
