Lowes Foods is continuing to grow its presence in the Carolinas.

In addition to the site in Pittsboro, North Carolina, that is scheduled to open later this year, there are four new locations: Concord and Kannapolis in North Carolina and Indian Land and Aiken in South Carolina.

“We’re excited to be building additional Lowes Foods stores to serve the booming growth areas around Charlotte and northeast of Augusta, Georgia,” said Tim Lowe, head of retail, Alex Lee and president, Lowes Foods. “All five of our new stores are in various stages of planning and construction, and we look forward to sharing opening timelines and plans in coming months.”

Lowe said the five stores will join Lowes Foods’ history of supporting local farmers and vendors by featuring products from the Carolinas.

It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alex Lee Inc.

Founded in 1931, Alex Lee Inc. is a family-owned and -operated company that employs about 10,000 people. It is the parent company of Merchants Distributors, which provides full-service, wholesale distribution to supermarkets across the Southeastern U.S. In addition, Alex Lee is also the parent company of Just Save food stores in North Carolina.
