Lakeland, Florida-based Publix Super Markets opened a new store in the Westlake Plaza at 16841 Persimmon Blvd. in Westlake, Florida.
The 48,388-square-foot store offers departments for grocery, dairy, frozen food, seafood, meat and fresh produce, as well as a bakery, deli and pharmacy area.
“We are excited to welcome our customers to their new store at the Westlake Plaza Shopping Center and look forward to providing them with the premier service and quality Publix is known for,” said Lindsey Willis, media relations manager.
Publix adds this Westlake store to its growing list of Southeast locations, including supermarkets in Melbourne, Fort Myers Beach, Sarasota and Kissimmee, Florida, and in Fairhope, Alabama.
The Westlake Publix features a full-service deli counter highlighting Boar’s Head meats and cheeses, as well as handcrafted old-world delicacies, cured sausages, soppressata and aged prosciutto. The deli also offers an international selection of olives, antipastos, hummus and more than 200 artisan cheeses from the U.S. and around the world.
The produce department carries organic and conventionally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables, with locally-grown produce and exotic choices from around the world. The floral department stocks bouquets reflecting the changing seasons.
The meat department features custom cuts of meats, including Publix private label all-natural and organic GreenWise chicken. Customers seeking a home-cooked meal with minimal prep time can choose from ready-to-cook items prepared fresh daily. A full-service seafood department carries fresh seafood delivered throughout the week. It includes wild and farm-raised fish, as well as a wide variety of shellfish.
The full-service pharmacy will also include a large variety of body care products and a wide selection of natural and conventional vitamins, minerals and supplements.
The Westlake Publix also provides contactless pay options and services, such as grocery delivery with Instacart and pharmacy delivery. The store will also feature a centralized pick-up option at the front of the store.
Publix is also donating $1,500 in nonperishable items, such as canned foods, granola bars, nuts, fruit snacks and sandwich bags to Seminole Ridge Community High School as part of the company’s grand opening.
The school has a program through a partnership with a local nonprofit to make sandwich and meal bags to distribute to those experiencing homelessness each month. The donated items will also go to students in need at the school. The shelf stable food will be delivered to Seminole Ridge Community High School by the Publix Good Together truck.
