In New Role, Umstead Will Help Weis Develop Talent

Weis' Mike Umstead

Sunbury, Pennsylvania-based Weis Markets has promoted Mike Umstead to VP of talent development and associate relations, succeeding Bob Cline, who is retiring.

Umstead, who previously served as the company’s director of field human resources, will oversee talent and organization development, succession management and associate relations. He also will direct engagement, career development programs and human resources policies and practices. He reports to Jim Marcil, SVP of human resources.

Umstead began his 24-year Weis career as a part-time front-end associate in 1999. He has worked as a store manager, HR talent manager, district manager and director of associate relations. He received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Penn State University.
