Report: Frozen Foods Can Help Family Budgets, Meals

Citing their convenience and affordability, the latest Atomik survey by the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association found that frozen foods contribute to healthy meals.

Parents find frozen foods to be a particularly valuable tool for meal planning and rising grocery costs. A significant portion (76 percent) of parents surveyed agree the products help them stretch their budgets, a higher percentage than adults without children at home. 

Other key findings from the survey include:

  • Inspiration: Nearly all respondents (99 percent) find dinner ideas in the frozen aisle, while 83 percent agree that it makes meal planning easier.
  • Budget-friendly: Almost two-thirds of adults (64 percent) say frozen products help them fight rising grocery costs.
  • Healthy options: More than three in five adults (61 percent) believe frozen options contribute to a nourishing breakfast, and nearly four in five parents (79 percent) agree.

“For families facing rising food costs, frozen meals offer a budget-friendly solution,” said Tricia Greyshock, president and CEO of NFRA. 

“The ability to stock your freezer with healthy and convenient meals at an affordable price, while reducing food waste, is a plus in today’s economy.”

March is National Frozen Food Month. As part of its celebration, NFRA has partnered with Jamie Gwen, chef and TV personality, to share mealtime ideas that use frozen products.

Throughout the month, NFRA will also promote its annual $10,000 sweepstakes, giveaway and Ultimate Frozen Food Showdown Bracket. Participants can enter for a chance to win one of 18 first prizes of $500 supermarket gift cards or the grand prize of a $1,000 card.

For more than 40 years, NFRA’s March Frozen Food Month has been a nationwide celebration. This month-long campaign highlights the benefits of the frozen aisle resources, recipes and helpful tips.
