Publix Launching CMN Balloon Campaign for 21st Year

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a charity that raises life-saving funds for its member hospitals, announced May 24 that Publix Super Markets will host its spring “Miracle Balloon” campaign, starting May 26 and running through June 15. The annual fundraiser will help improve the lives of sick and injured children in the five Southeastern states in which Publix operates.

2012 marks the 21st year Publix employees and customers will rally to help their nearest CMN Hospital through the purchase of $1, $3 and $5 balloons at the register. In addition to helping fund a variety of live-saving treatments, medical equipment and research, Publix customers can receive in-store coupons up to $20 in value as an incentive for their donation.

“Last year, Publix surpassed the $20 million mark in overall funds raised for our member hospitals. These dollars have led to dramatic improvements in hospital necessities as well as services for uninsured or underinsured families,” said John Lauck, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals president and CEO. “We are so grateful to the energized Publix employees and generous customers over the years; their support is vital to the hospitals for which they raise funds.”

In addition to the upcoming Miracle Balloon campaign, Publix stores—in conjunction with select major food brands—will be participating in the Produce for Kids program May 31-June 28, which raises additional funds and encourages healthy eating among families.
