Fox Bros. Piggly Wiggly was recognized for the fifth time in as many trips to the annual Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors (WAMP) Convention. The 2013 competition was held in Madison April 4-6.
In conjunction with the convention, Fox Bros. entered several of its Almost World Famous Brats to compete with more than 1,000 other entries from across Wisconsin.
Fox Bros. received a Grand Champion Award in the Specialty Bratwurst category for its new Red and Green Bell Pepper and Cheddar Brat, a Grand Champion Award in the Traditional Cooked Bratwurst category for the Fox Bros. Pre-cooked Traditional Brat and a Reserve Grand Champion Award for Fox Bros. Original Brat.
The Wisconsin Meat Product Competition is the largest of its kind in the U.S. This year, 61 different meat processing plants and meat markets from throughout Wisconsin entered 1,053 products in 36 product categories including summer sausage, bratwurst, ham, bacon and a variety of other meat products.
More than 40 judges, including food scientists, out-of-state meat processors and other food industry professionals, evaluated the many products during the product competition. Individual products are judged on external appearance and eye appeal, internal appearance, aroma and taste using a scale of 1,000 points.
Fox Bros. Piggly Wiggly is the only store in Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Kenosha and Racine counties to win an award in this competition. This is the fifth year that Fox Bros. has entered the contest and the fifth time it has walked away with honors. Other Fox Bros. products previously winning awards include Southwest Jalapeno and Cheddar Chicken Brats, Philly Cheese Brats, Pre-cooked Traditional Brats, Green Pepper and Onion Brats and Salsa Cheddar Snack Sticks.
Fox Bros. Piggly Wiggly is a locally owned and operated grocery store that will celebrate 25 years of business this year.
Fox Bros. Brats are made fresh daily in their sausage production center at the Oconomowoc Piggly Wiggly store by sausage maker Dean Rindahl.
In addition to the Oconomowoc location, Fox Bros. Award Winning Brats are exclusively available at Fox Bros. Piggly Wiggly in Hartland, Richfield, Slinger, Jackson and Saukville.
