Trinity Frozen Foods, a Charlotte-based company that markets sweet potato products to foodservice and retail establishments, is preparing to open a processing plant in Robeson County, N.C.

The Charlotte Business Journal reports that the 150,000-s.f. facility, slated to open in July, will employ 60 workers. That number is expected to more than double over the next three years, bringing total employment at the plant to about 150.

“This will be the most modern and technological facility of its type in the world,” Jere Null, CEO of Trinity Frozen Foods, says in a news release. “We are excited to be locating it here in North Carolina amongst the largest, most abundant source of sweet potatoes in the country.”

Trinity’s sweet potato fries have no added sugar and are low in sodium, the release says. The company’s products are sold under the brand names Sweet Sensations and Frizzles as well as under private labels.

The company’s headquarters is in south Charlotte’s Ballantyne area.
