Publix Super Markets opened its newest Georgia store earlier this week—in Rome.

The Shelby Report attended grand opening events for the approximately 54,000-s.f. store in Floyd County, located at 435 Turner McCall Blvd. NE in Charles Hight Square. The location also includes a drive-thru pharmacy.

Publix is staying busy with new stores. The Lakeland, Fla.-based grocer is opened a new Bradenton, Fla., store Thursday and has plans to open three more Florida locations over the next three weeks—in Inverness, Ponte Vedra Beach and Port Orange. All these stores will include pharmacies, and the Port Orange store will have a liquor shop/department.

Publix currently operates more than 1,000 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee. The company will open its first North Carolina stores next year.
