During the 31st annual induction dinner, the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation honored H-E-B as one of this year’s inductees. This was the first time that a company, rather than an individual, was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“We are honored to receive this award,” said Craig Boyan, H-E-B president and COO. “It’s important to emphasize that H-E-B was presented with this award because of our partners and our customers. This recognition celebrates the role each and every partner plays in building a strong retail company that is guided by the purpose of improving the lives of our customers and the communities we serve.”

The Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation recognizes the state’s business leaders who have made outstanding contributions in their field and in the communities in which they live. To date, 165 notable business legends from around the state have been inducted.

“As the first company to be inducted, San Antonio-based H-E-B was selected because of its industry innovation, its commitment to being the customer’s champion and because of the company’s unparalleled dedication to the communities it serves,” said Mark Johnson, chairman of the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation.

The morning after the induction dinner, at its corporate headquarters, H-E-B leadership hosted a special thank you reception for its partners to recognize the people behind the company’s success. During the three-hour event, several thousand partners were treated to a celebratory lunch and festivities.

The Texas Business Hall of Fame recognition also has meaning to H-E-B because of the foundation’s commitment to education and scholarships. As part of the celebration, H-E-B presented Jordan Cowman, Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation’s incoming chair, with a $50,000 donation. The money will go toward future scholarships given by the foundation to Texas students. This year during its annual dinner, the foundation awarded 21 Texas college and university students each with a $10,000 scholarships.
