United Family Kicks Off General Mills’ ‘Outnumber Hunger’ Effort

The United Family has launched General Mills’ “Outnumber Hunger” promotion during which guests have the opportunity to raise up to $1.2 million for local food banks by purchasing specially marked General Mills’ products. Outnumber Hunger will be held through May 18 at all United Supermarkets, Market Street and  Amigos locations.

Each year, General Mills and Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks, join forces with a roster of popular music artists to raise awareness for hunger. This year, the band Florida Georgia Line will be one of the many artists featured on boxes of more than 90 General Mills’ products—from Cheerios and Betty Crocker to Yoplait and Nature Valley.

By entering a code from these specially marked boxes online, United Family customers can help secure five meals per entry code on behalf of a local food bank.

“The Outnumber Hunger promotion is for a cause that is dear to The United Family’s heart,” said Shelby Crews, community relations manager for The United Family. “By purchasing everyday grocery items from General Mills, our guests can make a significant impact on a food bank in their area. That’s important to our guests and fighting hunger is important to us as a company.”

For every code entered by Jan. 31, 2015, at outnumberhunger.com, General Mills will donate 55.5 cents to Feeding America, with a maximum total donation of $1.2 million. General Mills has made an initial contribution of $600,000 and will donate up to an additional $600,000 based on online code entries.
