Whole Foods Market (WFM) opened its second location in Brooklyn this week, featuring a new selection of exclusive goods from local vendors. At 51,000 s.f., Whole Foods Market Williamsburg also features a variety of unique dining options. The WFM Food Hall will feature Luke’s Lobster’s Tail Cart, No. 7 Veggie and East Coast Poke, OddFellows Ice Cream Co. and N4, a restaurant and tap room offering an all-natural take on the traditional Jewish delicatessen and an array of exclusive wines on draft from Red Hook Winery. The store will also offer Layered, a breakfast and snack concept focused on vegan and paleo options, and prepared food offerings including pizza, sushi, coffee, juice and other daily chef-made creations. Baldor Specialty Foods will launch a digital kiosk giving shoppers the opportunity to special-order unique culinary items typically only available to the metro area’s chefs. Gotham Greens will introduce “Ugly Greens,” greens and herbs that are slightly imperfect on the outside but good on the inside, and the store will introduce an “Imperfect Produce” program, offering customers the opportunity to purchase select “cosmetically-challenged” produce at a lower price…

Kontos Foods, a Paterson, New Jersey-based manufacturer and distributor of traditional artisan breads and Mediterranean specialty foods, will be exhibiting its Flatbread, Pita Bread and Fillo products on July 27 at the Mayca Foodservice Show, a major local showcase of food suppliers in Costa Rica. The show is produced in conjunction with Sysco Corp., a partner and part owner of Mayca.
