BJ’s Wholesale Club has launched a bakery program for its members. The club is offering new, upscale two-tier Wellesley Farms cakes that can be designed for any occasion and sell for less than specialty bakery prices. David Hay, bakery buyer for BJ’s Wholesale Club, said, “We’re thrilled to offer two-tier cakes that can be decorated with everything from Darth Vader to photos to customized designs. And of course they’re baked with the finest fresh ingredients that our members have enjoyed over the years.” In addition to kid-themed birthday cakes, BJ’s bakers can collaborate with members to create customized cakes for milestones such as anniversaries, showers and even weddings…
The New England Giftware & Specialty Foods Show will be held Sept. 11-12 at the Sturbridge Host Hotel in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. The show will feature unique, locally made goods from more than 100 businesses from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. According to the Pennsylvania Petroleum Association, the federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will conduct a nationwide roadside inspection Sept. 11-17 focusing on commercial motor vehicle brake systems. Law enforcement agencies across the U.S. will conduct roadside inspections on large trucks to identify out-of-adjustment brakes as well as brake-system and anti-lock braking system violations as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Brake Safety Week, an annual outreach and enforcement campaign designed to improve commercial motor vehicle brake safety. CVSA is made up of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies nationwide.
