Lowe’s acquires Super S Foods

by Rita Arnst

Pay and Save Inc., dba Lowe’s from Littlefield, Texas, acquired the Super S Foods chain today.

“The stores will be operated as Super S Foods/Lowe’s for a while. Nothing is going to change,” said James Hanson with Super S Foods public relations.

“We are not going to change the signs initially, but over time I am sure that they will incorporate the Lowe’s brand. I’m not at liberty to say more; however, people are still going to maintain their jobs, operate the same store hours, seven days a week,” added Hanson.

Lowe’s, a family owned and operated chain of supermarkets, was founded in Olton, Texas, in 1964.

The chain currently has more than 3,300 employees.

With this acquisition, Lowe’s now operates 145 stores in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

“Customers will begin to see a transformation of products and expansion of departments within the next three to four weeks. Customers will still find the same great prices and friendly faces that have been serving them with all their grocery needs,” said Roger Lowe Jr.
