Ralphs Charitable Campaign to Benefit Susan G. Koman

Ralphs Grocery Co. has begun a fundraising campaign to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure® affiliates in Southern California and their work to fight breast cancer.

Customers and Ralphs associates can support their local Susan G. Komen for the Cure affiliate through the supermarket chain’s nonprofit arm, The Ralphs Fund, by donating their spare change in collection canisters located at the checkstands in their neighborhood Ralphs supermarket. The Komen fundraising campaign will run through Nov. 5.

Funds raised at Ralphs will be used to finance breast healthcare, treatment, research and programs to improve the lives of people battling breast cancer. Ralphs will also be a major sponsor of four Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure events in Southern California in 2011.

“Our ability to support the great work being done by our local Susan G. Komen for the Cure ® Affiliates is a direct result of the dedication of our associates and the generosity of our customers,” said Donna Giordona, president of Ralphs Supermarkets, in a press release. “Ralphs is proud to be able to continue our commitment to help in the fight against breast cancer.”

Ralphs, its associates and customers have given more than $3 million to Susan G. Komen for the Cure affiliates and other organizations that are working to find a cure to breast cancer since 2001.

Last year, Ralphs provided more than $6 million in cash and in-kind donations to organizations focused on health, education, the fight against hunger, developing our youth, and the environment.
