Last updated on June 13th, 2024 at 12:02 pm

Southern Family Markets and its employees place real significance on giving back in the communities they serve and at the end of the 2011 fiscal year; over $570,000 was donated to local charities as well as over 32,000 bags of food to local food banks.

Also, Southern Family Markets held its First Annual Charity Classic Golf Tournament in May, which raised over $300,000.

“I’m very proud of our teammates, customers and vendor community for the support they’ve shown. They not only supported these charitable efforts, but went above and beyond with the purpose of helping their neighbors in a time of need,” said Max Henderson, president of Southern Family Markets.

The following charities received contributions throughout the year: Salvation Army ($25,000), American Red Cross ($25,000), United Way of Central Alabama Food Bank ($25,000), United Way of Central Alabama ($40,000) — along with many other charitable organizations.
