United Supermarkets and Red Mango are embarking on a test of a store-in-store concept offering healthy frozen treats to United shoppers.
United is slated to open its first Red Mango counter later this month at its Judge Ely Boulevard location in Abilene. Construction begins inside the store today, Feb. 13. This is the first Red Mango location in Abilene.
The in-store unit will be operated by Beach Ventures LLC in Lubbock. Buddy Beach is the franchisee holder for Red Mango and operates a full sized Red Mango location in Lubbock.
“We are pleased to team up with United Supermarkets in opening the Red Mango franchise in Abilene,” said Beach. “We are very proud of our healthy assortment of offerings and look forward to becoming a part of the Abilene business community.”
The partnership with Red Mango is an important step in United’s effort to developing a well-rounded health-and-wellness program for its guests.
“We know frozen yogurt has become a popular family treat, and Red Mango is one of the healthiest in its category,” said Wes Jackson, CMO for United Supermarkets LLC, based in Lubbock. “Both United and Red Mango share a commitment to the health and wellness of our guests, so we feel this is a natural fit. We are excited to offer our guests a unique in-store experience with Red Mango.”
The Red Mango counter also will serve Arriba! coffee, United’s popular house brand.
“We believe Red Mango and Arriba! will both resonate with our Abilene guests and are delighted to be offering these new services,” said Jackson.
The Judge Ely Boulevard store also has housed a Sharky’s Burrito Co. location since 2006.
Red Mango serves frozen yogurt that is all natural, in nonfat, low fat and gluten free formulations, and contains live and active probiotic cultures to help support a healthy immune and digestive system.
United Supermarkets operates 30 markets across north and west Texas under the United, Market Street, Amigos United and United Express banners.
