“Congratulations to Dennis on receiving this truly well deserved honor,” said Jim Scanlon, regional VP for Martin’s. “Through immunization work with Ukrop’s and now Martin’s, Dennis has become a recognized expert in travel vaccinations both locally and nationally, training hundreds of pharmacists to implement their own immunization practices.”

Stanley began his pharmacy career with the former Ukrop’s Pharmacy in 1974 and in 1998 received training to administer immunizations. In 2000, he started the pre-travel clinic at Ukrop’s Pharmacy upon the request of a local church group in need of vaccines for members traveling to Africa. By 2005, Stanley’s travel clinic was seeing more than 1,000 patients a year for consultations and had administered more than 2,000 vaccinations.

In 2007, Stanley received a certificate in travel health through the International Society of Travel Medicine and has become a recognized expert in his area of immunizations.

Currently, he is national faculty for the APhA pharmacy based immunization certificate training program.
