Modesto, Calif.-based Save Mart Supermarkets has welcomed Brett Wing as its new VP of FoodMaxx operations. Wing comes from Cub Foods/Supervalu in Hudson, Wis., and brings 35 years of grocery store and senior management experience.
In 1987, he joined Cub Foods/Supervalu and held various positions, including VP of marketing, corporate director of produce, corporate director of frozen food/dairy/liquor, senior director of merchandising, division manager, district manager and store manager.
Wing’s grocery career started with Safeway in Boulder, Colo., and earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration and a master of business administration. He served on the board of trustees for the National MS Society for the past five years and was an active community leader serving as the president of the Cub Cares Community Foundation.
EVP and Chief Sales Officer, and past VP of FoodMaxx, Frank Capps knows what leadership is needed and feels Wing is the right person for the job.
“Brett’s vast experience with Cub Foods and the variety of positions he has held at Supervalu will allow him to help grow our FoodMaxx market share in an economy that is very challenging for our customers,” said Capps. “It is a time where our customers are looking for value in every food item they buy. We are looking forward to his fresh look at our business.”
“I’m thrilled to join the family at Save Mart, a company with 60 years of rich culture, an amazing growth history, and deep roots in the communities we serve,” said Wing. “Even though I have been in the grocery industry for 35 years, I’m looking forward to the challenge of learning a new culture, vision and core values.”
Save Mart Supermarkets operates 229 stores throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada under the Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky, Maxx Value Foods and FoodMaxx banners.
