West Sacramento-based food distributor Tony’s Fine Foods has acquired Portland-area company Ideal Food Products.

The Sacramento Business Journal reports that the terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Tony’s is acquiring the assets of Ideal to begin operations in the Pacific Northwest out of Ideal’s Ridgefield, Wash., facility just north of Portland.

The third-generation family-owned company has its headquarters and main distribution facility in West Sacramento, and serves more than 1,500 customers along the West Coast, according to the company. It offers distribution and logistics for supplying meat, baked goods, cheese and specialty items.

CEO Karl Berger said the deal strengthens Tony’s growth and position in the Pacific Northwest.

“We believe vendors and customers will benefit from Tony’s greater product reach, comprehensive and consolidated distribution and enhanced logistics and storage operations which ensure products are delivered fresh, multiple times per week,” Berger said in a statement.
