Ahold USA Names Van Dam EVP Of Supply Chain, E-Commerce

Jan van Dam

Ahold USA has appointed Jan van Dam to the position of EVP of supply chain and e-commerce. In this role, which will be based in Carlisle, Pa., van Dam will report directly to COO James McCann and will be transitioning into his new assignment in April.

van Dam will focus on leading a supply chain organization that supports Ahold USA and its four divisions: Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro, Giant Landover and Giant Carlisle. van Dam’s direct reports include Jeff Enright, SVP of supply chain distribution operations; Walt Lentz, SVP of supply chain replenishment and forecasting; Mark Tarzwell, VP of supply chain projects, fresh; and Jerry Pimental, VP of supply chain projects, non-perishable. In addition to supply chain, van Dam will have responsibility for Ahold USA’s e-commerce business with Peapod President and GM Andrew Parkinson reporting to him.

With 17 years of experience at Ahold, van Dam most recently served as president and CEO of Albert/Hypernova, Ahold’s supermarket business in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Prior to that, he served as GM of Etos, Ahold’s drugstore business in the Netherlands, and he also held a number of leadership positions at Albert Heijn, Ahold’s supermarket business in the Netherlands.

“Jan will add valuable retail expertise to Ahold USA’s leadership team,” said McCann. “Jan’s responsibility over the e-commerce side of our business will also enable us to accelerate its expansion and maximize supply chain synergies across Ahold USA and Peapod.”
