Delhaize America is cutting about 350 corporate jobs and also eliminating 150 open positions as part of reorganization.

The Salisbury Post reports that Delhaize America, parent company of Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion, notified workers via email Tuesday of the impending layoffs, with all the cuts coming above the store-manager level, according to the report.

Sweetbay stores sell inventory, shut doors earlier than expected

The 33 Delhaize-owned Sweetbay supermarkets in Florida slated for closure are running out of food and closing their doors faster than expected, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reports.

“We had said on or before Feb. 13, but because inventory levels are gone, all stores will be closing” by Wednesday, Feb. 6, Sweetbay spokeswoman Nicole LeBeau told the Tampa Bay Times. “There will be some closing today (Feb. 6).”

The stores scheduled to close today include the following locations: 1794 22nd St. S, St. Petersburg; 3400 E. Lake Rd., Palm Harbor; 9017 S.R. 52, Hudson; 2333 W. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa; 4519 Gunn Hwy., Tampa; 5320 Ehrlich Rd., Tampa; and 17605 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Tampa.

Those stores slated for closure that remain open this week will close Monday.
