Publix, Kerrygold Announce Launch Of Judith McLoughlin’s Cooking Tour

Judith McLoughlin at Publix

Publix Super Markets and Kerrygold have announced the launch of cookbook author Judith McLoughlin’s cooking tour. Beginning in March, McLoughlin will visit several Publix locations for the second annual Publix Aprons tour. She will appear first at Atlanta Apron’s Cooking School at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Alphretta Commons Publix, located at 4305 State Bridge Rd. in Alpharetta, Ga.

She plans to share recipes from her successful cookbook “Shamrock and Peach: A Culinary Journey from the North of Ireland to the American South.” Some of the recipes on the menu include:

• Kerrygold Cashel Blue and Golden Pear Salad paired with an Irish Blackberry Balsamic Vinaigrette. Cashel Blue is a farmhouse cheese handmade on the Grubb family farm in County Tipperary. It is a semi-soft, creamy cheese, distinguished by its round, full flavor and signature tang.

• Pan-seared Duck and Caramelized Onions in a honey and Irish wheat beer sauce on a bed of wilted spinach and ginger. It combines the tart flavors of wheat beer and the sweetness of the honey with the gamey goodness of the duck.

• An Irish twist to traditional cornbread by introducing the flavors of Dubliner cheese, the most popular cheese in the Kerrygold line, along with fresh figs and caramelized fennel.

• For dessert, Banoffee pie, an Irish coffee-shop favorite that melds the combination of bananas and toffee with a Southern pecan and Irish butter crust.

McLoughlin’s signature style combines fresh produce of the South with age-old Irish techniques to create a new fusion that melds the best of both worlds.

The Aprons tour includes the following stops: Atlanta, March 7; Jacksonville, March 8; Tallahassee, March 9; Lakeland, March 14; Sarasota, March 15; and Tampa, March 16.

Beyond providing students with tips and guidance, the cooking classes will bring a true flavor of Ireland to Aprons by showcasing Irish culture. Local Irish dance school, the Drake school of Irish Dance, will kick off the cooking class in style, highlighting the synergy and vitality of a new modern Ireland. McLoughlin’s innovative and fresh Irish cuisine takes on a new meaning to the Irish American family table for St. Patrick’s Day and beyond.
