The California Grocers Association Educational Foundation (CGAEF) hosted its annual industry golf tournament Wednesday at Twin Palms golf course in City of Industry.

Desmond Howard, 1991 Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Michigan, was the special guest. Howard also was the Super Bowl XXXI Green Bay Packers MVP in 1997 after he returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown (still a Super Bowl record). It was an electrifying play, so deflating to the Patriots that the team couldn’t rally. The Packers went on to win the Super Bowl, 35-21, in the New Orleans Superdome.
That story of victory was among several that Howard shared about his colorful career. His appearance at the CGAEF golf event was sponsored by Kellogg’s.
