The South Park Street Kroger in Carrollton, Ga., will celebrate its re-grand opening at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16. After undergoing a 64,000-s.f. expansion, the remodeled store now offers customers more than 113,531 s.f. of merchandise and represents the first Kroger Marketplace store in Georgia.

“Kroger has been a part of the Carrollton community for more than 27 years,” says Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “We are excited not only to celebrate the re-grand opening of our Carrollton location, but also to bring the first Kroger Marketplace to Georgia and our loyal customers.”

Kroger Marketplace will offer local Carrollton shoppers with a one-stop destination for home fashion and décor, bed and bath, kitchen and small appliances, home office and toys—in addition to traditional fresh food shopping.

The newly remodeled Kroger in Carrollton also will feature expanded deli, bakery and natural foods departments; double drive-thru pharmacy; large meat and seafood department; upscale deli and bistro; Fred Meyer Jewelers; All About You department; extensive general merchandise; floral shop; and a Starbucks.

“In my 33 years of service to Kroger, the excitement expressed from the Carrollton community and Kroger associates as we celebrate the re-grand opening of this new store surpasses anything I’ve experienced before,” says Randy Thurman, store manager of the South Park Street Kroger. “We look forward to serving this wonderful community and encourage residents to join us during our re-grand opening celebrations.”

The new Kroger Marketplace is housed in the Carrollton Crossroads retail center, owned by Atlanta-based Halpern Enterprises.

“More and more consumers are looking to take care of different shopping needs at their grocery store,” says Jack Halpern, chairman of Halpern Enterprises. “We’re excited to be a part of this new Kroger Marketplace as it brings another dimension to Carrollton Crossroads. From pet supplies and office supplies, to clothes and shoes, Kroger is offering customers a diverse variety of products, all at one place.”

In honor of its first Georgia store opening, Fred Meyer Jewelers—a division of the Kroger Co. and the nation’s third largest jeweler—will offer free gift bags and freshwater pearl bracelets to the first 100 Fred Meyer customers on select days. Jewelry store customers also can enter to win a pair of half-carat T.W. classic diamond earrings, valued at $1,275. Additionally, from Oct. 16-22, Fred Meyer Jewelers customers will receive double fuel points with every purchase through Kroger’s loyalty program.

“We’re delighted to offer Carrollton shoppers quality jewelry at a great value, assisted by our highly knowledgeable staff,” says Peter Engel, president of Fred Meyer Jewelers. “Now, customers can enjoy the convenience of jewelry shopping in their neighborhood grocery store.”

As part of the festivities, Kroger will donate more than $1,000 to help support partnered school systems, including Carrollton City Schools (Carrollton High) and Carroll County Schools (Central High).

Kroger’s Atlanta Division operates 210 stores covering Georgia, eastern Tennessee, northern Alabama and South Carolina.
